Grant “Homerun” Johnson

Played in the Negro Leagues from 1894 to 1932. First played for the integrated Findlay Sluggers in 1893-1894 and hit a reported 60 homeruns. On October 7, 1893 Grant Johnson hit two home runs off Tony Mullane to lead Findlay to a 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds of the National League. Johnson also made stops with Cuban X-Giants, Philadelphia Giants, and Brooklyn Royal Giants among others. Considered one of the greatest hitters in the Negro Leagues. Born in Findlay.
