Emily Saliers

Founder, with Amy Ray, of the folk rock duo Indigo Girls. Although born in Connecticut, Emily spent summers as a young girl with her grandmother, Eloise Firmin, in Findlay on Douglas Parkway. Her grandfather, Charles, died before Emily was born. He worked for what became Marathon Oil. The Firmin family included several prominent Doctors including, in the 1940s, Dr. John Meeks Firmin, a longtime chief of staff of Findlay Hospital now known as Blanchard Valley Hospital. Emily’s father, Don, was born in Fostoria.

Emily wrote a song titled “Findlay Ohio 1968” inspired by her summers at her grandmother’s house. The song is included on the Indigo Girls album “One Lost Day” (2015).
