John Reiff

Became a jockey at 13 in 1898, known as the ‘Midget Wonder’ since he was barely 4 feet tall. He rode 33 winners in California before moving with his brother Lester, also a jockey, to England in 1899. By the time he retired in 1914 he had 1,016 wins. Rode mainly in France but did win the Kentucky Oaks in 1903. Won the Epsom Derby in 1907 and 1912. Won the French Derby in 1902.

Born in Americus, Missouri but lived in Findlay before his career and both he and his bother visited the family in Findlay often. Inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1956
